School holidays in Västerås: autumn break week 44, Christmas, sports break and summer
The autumn break falls in week 44, and Västerås has plenty on for children that week. Vallby Friluftsmuseum runs Höstlovskul, with a spooky trail, animal walks and free admission. The cathedral offers a church safari, a pirate tour, an organ tour and a mystery to solve, and everything for children costs nothing. The city gathers the autumn-break activities in its holiday calendar.
Between activities, you can play a room with us. For the holidays we recommend The Space Station, The Bunker and the twin rooms The King and The Emperor, all with a minimum age of 10. Two families or two groups of friends can race in the twin rooms when both are free at the same start time. At Karlsgatan 2, five minutes from us, the art museum’s Konstlabbet studio runs art sessions during the autumn break.
Other breaks need planning too. Over the Christmas holidays, light sculptures of deer glow in Vasaparken. The sports break suits Björnö nature reserve, which in winter has ploughed skating tracks and a sledging hill. In the summer holidays, boats leave Färjkajen for the islands of Lake Mälaren, and Lögastrand has a sandy beach and beach volleyball courts.
