In Gothenburg's schools the autumn half-term is called läslov, and it falls in week 44. On a Friday in October, Kulturnatta fills the city with around 200 cultural events. During the break the Prisma youth film festival is on, Liseberg runs Halloween, Universeum has a Halloween theme and the Museum of World Culture celebrates Día de Muertos.
On Gråberget, three rooms suit children who have turned 12 – The Chapel, The Casino Heist and The Detectives – and none has scary elements. A visit takes 90 minutes, so it combines well with the Natural History Museum in Slottsskogen, a 25–30 minute walk away, which runs its own half-term programme of short talks and activities.
For the Christmas holidays, Liseberg is a Christmas park from as early as mid-November. The sports break falls in February. In the summer holidays, Plaskis on Mariaplan is filled with water, and tram 11 takes you from the same square to the ferries at Saltholmen.
