Company Christmas party 2026: ideas beyond the buffet, and when you must book

Here is what tends to work for Christmas parties of 10–80 people, what it costs and a timeline that holds: from date and budget in September to confirmed numbers two weeks before.

A timeline that holds

  • September: set the date and budget, ask staff about weekday or weekend.
  • October: book the activity and the restaurant. Free times with us are shown directly in the calendar. The earlier you book, the more times there are to choose from.
  • November: send the invitation with an RSVP date, collect allergies.
  • Two weeks before: confirm numbers with every supplier.

Formats that tend to work

  1. Activity first, then dinner. A 90-minute activity at 5 pm, dinner at 7 pm. Everyone has something to talk about at the table, and those who want to leave early can without missing the activity.
  2. Christmas dinner without the buffet. Many colleagues have already had three julbord in December. A good à la carte restaurant plus an activity often feels more thoughtful.
  3. Tournament. Split into teams, run an activity where teams can be compared (time, points), hand out a prize at dinner.
  4. Weekday lunch. For shift workers or teams with many young parents: activity at 11, lunch at 1, free afternoon.

Activities for December

  • Escape room: indoors, 60 minutes, teams of 3–5 in several rooms with the same start time when the calendar has that time free in the rooms. How many fit per round depends on the city; larger groups play two rounds. Pay on site by card or Swish, invoice for companies that cannot pay by card.
  • Gingerbread-house building or chocolate tasting: calm, suits mixed ages.
  • Christmas quiz: can be held at the restaurant.
  • Curling or ice skating: needs everyone to be willing, and a change of clothes.

What does a Christmas party cost?

Roughly SEK 300–500 per person for the activity and SEK 600–900 for dinner with drinks. At Escape House a game costs SEK 325 per adult (students and seniors SEK 250, children under 15 SEK 185), incl.
